In this Intro to Musical Theatre class, performers build confidence in a safe and nurturing environment while exploring music, movement, and drama. Through engaging activities and collaborative work, students develop essential skills in performance, storytelling, improvisation, and character development. As an ensemble, students work together to create a meaningful performance while discovering their own unique stage voice. The class culminates in a final showcase on the last day, giving students the opportunity to share their growth with family and friends.
Sometimes students feel like they are “behind” or that it’s too late to try something new—this is the perfect place to begin! No experience is necessary, and this class is designed to meet students where they are while helping them grow with confidence. This class is also a great fit for students interested in auditioning for a CAPA Conservatory Company.
In the 9-11 and 12+ classes: Students will also gain valuable audition skills, including how to prepare, present themselves confidently, and make strong choices in the audition room. No previous experience necessary.
Advanced Musical Theatre
Previous experience and CAPA approval required
Designed for the serious musical theatre student, this advanced-level class is ideal for performers who are ready to elevate their skills in a focused, high-level training environment—without the full time commitment of CAPA Company. Tailored for experienced students, this class goes beyond the basics to refine technique and strengthen performance quality across acting, vocal performance, and musical theatre dance. Students will work on advanced character development, storytelling, and stage presence while being challenged to make bold, specific, and compelling choices.
Advance Musical Theatre Schedule:
Thursdays
ages 12+ 8:00-9:00pm

A focus of this class is audition technique and booking the role. Students will learn how to:
- Select and prepare appropriate audition material
- Build and maintain a strong Musical Theatre Audition Notebook
- Present themselves with confidence and professionalism
- Make standout choices that capture attention in the audition room
- Take direction and adjust quickly in callbacks
This class is especially beneficial for students who primarily perform in school productions but are looking for more targeted training to grow competitively and artistically. Students must have prior musical theatre experience (CAPA class or equivalent) and/or receive teacher approval to enroll. Through a supportive yet challenging environment, performers will continue to grow their confidence, versatility, and readiness for the next level of their musical theatre journey.
