        In this high-energy, hands-on class, you’ll:

  •  Learn the basics of acting through games, scenes, and monologues
  •  Explore characters, stage presence, and how to own your moment
  •  Work with real scripts—from comedy to drama and everything in between
  •  Build confidence, communication, and storytelling skills
  •  Perform a play, we choose, in a final showcase for friends and family!

Whether you're a total beginner or a future Oscar-winner, this class is the perfect place to explore your dramatic side, make new friends, and have a blast on stage. No singing, no dancing—just pure, powerful acting.

Lights up. Let’s play!

Acting: Shakespeare!

Shakespeare’s plays stand the test of time for a reason—the characters are bold, the language is rich, and the stories are full of drama, comedy, and heart.

Because the language can feel unfamiliar at first, it helps to have a guide who can make it accessible and exciting. Your instructor, Tanya Quinn, has a deep connection with the Bard’s work. She has performed as Titania, Puck, and Quince in three separate productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, as well as Rosalind in As You Like It. Tanya has also directed young actors in Hamlet, Macbeth, The Tempest, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

For students planning to apply to musical theater or theater arts programs in college, Shakespeare is essential. Most auditions require both a classical dramatic and comedic monologue—and by the end of this course, students will leave with both, ready to impress in any audition room.

This class will help students find their voice in Shakespeare’s world, build confidence with classical text, and discover just how alive and relevant his work still is. It’s never too early to start exploring—and enjoying—Shakespeare!

“All the world’s a stage!”

“To thine own self be true.”

“We are such stuff as dreams are made on.”
