Program Overview
The Carolina Academy of Performing Arts (CAPA) Musical Theatre Company is an elite, conservatory-style training program for dedicated young performers passionate about storytelling through singing, acting, and dance led by CAPA’s Founder and Artistic Director, Melanie Prince.
Students receive industry-aligned training in a supportive, inspiring, and growth-centered environment designed to challenge and develop the whole performer.
Students train 1¼ to 3 hours per week, depending on placement. Consistent attendance is expected, with exceptions made for school-related performances and events.
The season culminates in a fully produced, ticketed theatrical showcase each May, providing students the opportunity to perform in a professional theatre setting.
Additional Dance Requirement:
- All CAPA Company members must enroll in one additional CAPA dance class per week.
- Pre-Professional students are strongly encouraged to take a minimum of two additional hours of CAPA dance weekly to support their growth.
Our curriculum emphasizes emotional authenticity, storytelling, and strong ensemble work, preparing students for success both on stage and beyond.
