Based on familiar stories and characters, young actors spend time working as an ensemble to create a "play of the day" full of drama, comedy, and suspense, imaginations are set free! Each class students will develop skills in performance, storytelling, improvisation and character development as they collaborate to create and perform a play of the day.
We will choose one play for the last day, when students will perform in a presentation for family and friends for parent observation day on final class.

Through exercises, theatre games, improvisation, individual and partner scene work, students will begin to develop the foundations of strong acting. Students study fundamentals including blocking, story arc, character development and sensory awareness with an exploration of audition technique, acting methods and some acting for film.
This class prepares students for more advanced acting classes including Advanced Actors Workshop.
Students have opportunities, through improv, monologues, partner scene, and group work, to perform for each other as well as for guests on our 10th and final class. Come to discover the actor in you!

Intro to Acting for Camera with Angie Staheli

In this introductory class, students will learn the basics of on-camera acting and auditioning through discussion, camera work and exercises.
This 10-week course will cover screen acting essentials to promote truthful, engaging characters, as well as technical aspects, such as eye-lines, basic shots, script analysis, how to create audition self-tapes and much more.
Students will end the class with a fresh headshot, an acting resume template and a new-found confidence in front of the camera.
This class is a must for anyone interested in learning more about film and commercial acting, including those who are seeking representation from an acting agency, as well as actors who are just getting started with an agent.
Ages: 14 to Adult. Minimum 10 students. Maximum 12 students.
Simply put, you'll learn to improvise. Through play and identifying the game, this introduction to improvisation class, will get the student onstage immediately and explore the fundamental principles of improvisation through exercises in agreement or accepting the "yes," commitment, spontaneity, listening and heightening. Sessions are designed so students will build a strong foundation as a confident player/performer. You will amaze yourself with your new found skills at the showcase on the last day of class.
Improv 13+
“Workshop” is the way CAPA describes our recreational or novice programming. “Workshop” may make reference to both productions and classes. They are not only for the beginner but beginners are welcome. The class or production may have a mix of students with varying experiences in the same group. No formal audition is required to participate in “Workshops” however are encouraged for production workshops. Workshop Classes usually end with a casual showcase for friends and family. Production Workshops culminate with two or more performances and mass ticket sales to the public.
“Master Workshops” have additional requirements including mandatory auditions and also make reference to a production or a class. Master Production Workshops culminate with two or more performances and mass ticket sales to the public.
SPECIAL NOTE FOR SUMMER STOCK WORKSHOP & MASTERS PRODUCTIONS:
** Participants can Audition for for both shows BUT you must be willing to pay tutition and take a role in both shows. Auditioning for both shows does not guarentee getting cast for both shows. If you are not cast, all tuition and fees will be refunded.
Parents/Guardians of participants 18 and younger are required to complete a minimum 5 volunteer hours per participant. A check in the amount of $100 dollars will be held in earnest until the end of the production when volunteer requirements are met. Deposits will NOT be cashed if volunteer hours are completed. Parents/Guardians may pay the $100 opt-out fee in lieu of volunteering 5 hours per participant.
$50 non-refundable Costume Fee and Tuition due with registration paid in full, or on scheduled payment plan. All tuition and costume fees must be paid prior to Auditions. Master Workshop: Auditions only (all camp payments will be refunded if your actor is not selected to participate in the Master Workshop).
Note: Masters Workshop auditions required. Workshop auditions are optional. Without auditioning your child will automatically participate exclusively in the ensemble. All are welcome.
